Corona Reminds Us of Crowns & Coronation

Psalm 99 says that the LORD reigns, He sits enthroned above the cherubim, He is elevated in Zion, He is exalted above the nations, He is holy (vs. 3, 5, 9), and the strong King who loves justice (vs.1-4). Let us reverence (v.1), praise Him (vs. 3, 5, 9), worship Him (vs. 5, 9), and obey (v. 7).

God is still in control, as He was in the leadership of Moses, Aaron, and Samuel (vs. 6-7). Since He is the God who loves justice (v. 4), let us surrender rather than judge Him unjustly. Psalm 98:9 says that He comes to judge the earth. He judges the world fairly, and the nations in a just manner. Each time you read of God judging a generation, a nation, many nations, or an individual, make sure you remember that He is all-wise, and knows exactly the best way to judge in order to draw all people unto Him, and to benefit many who are being damaged and destroyed by man's wickedness. I like to think of God's mercy on the next generation when He deals with the previous generation.

Also, remember that God is a forgiving God, and the people of faith find Him that way, knowing He also is the One who punishes their sinful deeds (99:8). This week, especially, let us remember that God did come to earth to punish their sinful deeds when Jesus Christ came to take our place on that rugged cross. Many Wednesdays ago Jesus and His disciples prepared for their last Passover supper together. , Likely, that evening as the sun went down, and the Jewish Thursday began, Jesus taught the foundation stones of the NT Church that He is the Passover Lamb.

Because of Christ's finished work, God is right to be a forgiving God. Jesus was punished for our sinful deeds. Let us meditate on Jesus as we try to memorize Psalm 99:8.

Corona virus may be a king virus, but the King of Kings is more powerful, and able to use this crowning virus to bring glory to Him. Would you crown Him with many crowns today?
