Revelations of God's Correction
His correction shows that He loves, receives, and delights in us.
His correction shows that we are His children. He does not correct those who are not His children. His correction is remedial for those in the family. His wrath and judgment is reserved for "illegitimate" sons, in other words, they are someone else's sons. This contrast does not teach parents to withhold discipline for children born out of wedlock.
His correction shows that He is better at this than "fathers of the flesh." He is the "father of our spirits" in contrast, who disciplines us perfectly for our eternal benefit. Sometimes, an earthly parent will discipline children with personal or selfish motives.
