God’s Conclusions of the Whole Matter of Life Under the Sun

Ecclesiastes 12

1. Remember Your Creator NOW (v. 1, 13-14)

a. Establish the habit now, or while young, to meditate on and worship Him

because hard days will come when it will be hard to praise Him. In fact

you will think and say, “I have no pleasure in them.”

b. Fear, reverence, and obey God, which is your “ whole duty” or true of wholeness

as a person (v. 13).

c. Prepare to answer for bad deeds and be rewarded for good deeds (v. 14).

2. Difficult Days WILL come for Everyone (v. 1-8)

• These verses list various forms that calamities can take.

  • How can we apply the conclusions of the matters of life “before” these kinds of things take over our days?

  • How can we follow through on God’s conclusions even in hard times?

    
    

3. Trust God’s Words through Solomon (v. 9-12). Trust that God inspired him when he

humbled himself to relate his journey and wisdom learned the hard way.

a. Be teachable so you don’t fail like Solomon (v. 9).

b. Delight in Words that are delightful & acceptable to God (v. 10; Psalm 51:19 uses this word for sacrifices God is pleased with).

c. Read God’s Word because it is written, upright, and truthful; it was

arranged by writers, but God is the one author and shepherd (v. 11).

d. Many books and much study should never take the place of God’s Word.
